Herrmann Ultrasonics - USASales Engineer: North American Headquarters, Bartlett IL 60103

We are looking for a committed, customer-focused Sales Engineer to assist in supporting our day to day business in the North American market.

Our worldwide headquarters is located in Karlsbad, Germany, with other global locations. The North American headquarters is located in a new 20,000 square foot facility in Bartlett, IL. Ultrasonic welding is used in the manufacturing process to assemble plastic components. Markets served include manufacturing of electronic, automotive, appliance and consumer products, with an emphasis on medical device manufacturers.
POSITION
The candidate will work out of our Bartlett, IL headquarters reporting to the Product Manager PLASTICS. Responsibilities include:
- This position will involve overnight travel of up to 60%.
- Initial 6 months of training in the PLASTICS lab, and travel with Sales Engineers throughout the country for further training and observation.
- After completion of the training, the candidate will be given a geographical sales territory, and expected to accomplish the following duties individually.
- Following up on leads, generating new leads, telephone and visit customers for the purpose of soliciting new business. Act as an intermediary between our customers and the North American headquarters.
- Assist in various stages of a customer’s project including determination of weld feasibility, performing and documenting ultrasonic test welds, generating quotations, project management during manufacturing and after sales machine set up and support.
- Interface closely with our accounting, technical, and service staff in the North American headquarters in Bartlett, IL, and world headquarters in Germany regarding clarification of technical details, optimization of weld processes and finding technical solutions to provide adequate and timely support for our customers.
- Assisting with trade shows, technical trainings and customer seminars.
- Providing similar support as above to Manufacturer’s representatives, when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- We prefer at least 2 years experience in sales, we may consider candidates with no experience as long as they can demonstrate considerable plastics knowledge and mechanical aptitude.
- Electrical skills, mechanical skills and computer literacy required.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, and basic PLC knowledge a plus. An Associate Engineering/technical degree in an electrical or mechanical field is required, a BS in electrical or mechanical engineering is a plus.
Other requirements:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to give technical presentations and conduct technical trainings and seminarsProviding similar support as above to Manufacturer’s representatives, when necessary.
- Spanish language skills highly desirable, German is a plus
