The history of Herrmann Ultrasonics begins with the entrepreneurial vision of Walter Herrmann, who founded the company in 1961. Over the past 40 years, his name became synonymous with technological leadership and innovations in ultrasonic welding systems.

With his pioneering inventions, especially in the area of high performance generator technology, and his entrepreneurial spirit, Mr. Herrmann laid a foundation for the commercial success of ultrasonic technology. He led his business to the top rank in ultrasonic plastic welding and assembly.

1961

The beginning of the Herrmann Group dates back to 1961 with the founding of Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik GmbH.

Back then as well as today, our test and application laboratories are the heart of our operations. Here, every application from our worldwide customers is evaluated and optimized for production by utilizing the extended know-how of our application specialists.

The acquired know-how, partially supported by co-operational research projects with major universities, led to our in-depth and fundamental knowledge and is shared with our customers when developing a solution to their welding applications.

1985

The DIALOG control for Herrmann Ultrasonics Welding Systems is introduced to the market, the first and only controller which provides true operator-machine communication.

1991

The year 1991 marks an additional milestone in the continuous development of Ultrasonic Technology. At the company's 30-year anniversary, the first completely numerically controlled (CNC) Ultrasonic Welding System is introduced to the world market. Up until now the DIALOG controller is the benchmark of leading technology for ultrasonic welding of thermoplastics. A position resulting from the excellent work in the five internal R&D centers of the Herrmann Group and our commitment to one single focus: The development and production of the world's best Ultrasonic Welding System for thermoplastics.

2000

In 2000 a 10,000 square feet extension was added to the German headquarters to serve the growing worldwide customer base.

From a technical perspective, the year 2000 marks another milestone in the history of Ultrasonic Technology. Together with the introduction of the touch-screen-technology for all Ultrasonics Controllers of the DIALOG-SERIE, the Herrmann Group introduced the first completely digital high performance generator. The consequent combination of "DIALOG touch" control technology and "digital control" generator technology results in a new dimension of ultrasonic welding of thermoplastics with simplified operator control.

1974

1974: The Herrmann Group introduces the High Performance Transistor Generator for Ultrasonic Welding Machines, a milestone in the continuous development of Ultrasonic Technology for the welding of thermoplastic parts.

1990

The necessity for a global presence was recognized early at Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik and in 1990 the US subsidiary Herrmann Ultrasonics, Inc. was successfully founded in the USA by Thomas Herrmann, the son of the parent company founder Walter Herrmann.

1995

In 1995 we were proud to introduce the NON-CONTACT/NON-WEAR technology to an ever growing market. This patented process for nearly contact free and as a result nearly wear free welding and cutting of Nonwovens in a continuous motion, received the "INDEX 96" award from the EUROPEAN DISPOSABLES AND NONWOVENS ASSOCIATION. With this the united European Nonwovens Manufacturers recognized the outstanding technology by which the Herrmann Group had once again set new standards for the manufacturing industry.
